What This Means in Practice

A service built around the person, not a checklist

A welfare call is a short, friendly telephone call at a time agreed with you — daily, or on the days that suit you. For people living alone it can mean a familiar voice, a proper chat, and the reassurance that someone is checking in. Calls are made by telephone; they do not include a home visit. Welfare calls are not continuous monitoring or an emergency-response service: in an emergency, always call 999.

A friendly, personal conversation
Concerns passed on to a named family contact, with the client’s agreement
